Poets House presents
The Fourteenth Annual Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge
Monday, June 8, 6:30pm
with poets Hettie Jones, Galway Kinnell, Thomas Lux, Natasha Trethewey and Kevin Young, and actor Bill Murray
On Monday, June 8 at 6:30pm, hundreds of poetry lovers will embark upon the Fourteenth Annual Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge, a New York tradition that, according to Time Out New York, "could just make you fall in love with New York all over again."
Join Hettie Jones, Galway Kinnell, Thomas Lux, Natasha Trethewey and Kevin Young for this unforgettable literary pilgrimage over the bridge that inspired Walt Whitman, Hart Crane and generations of poets. The event begins near City Hall, pauses for readings under Roebling's famous arches and culminates in a recitation at Brooklyn's historic Fulton Ferry Landing. The evening concludes with a festive dinner at Bubby's Brooklyn and a reading by actor Bill Murray of favorite verses.
This one-of-a-kind celebration benefits Poets House, the nation's premiere poetry library and literary center, which is moving to an eco-friendly building in Battery Park City this summer. Poets House will finally have a permanent home that is free and open to the public. Help Poets House create one of the great poetry destinations on the globe! While Poets House presents hundreds of free programs each year, this annual benefit helps support all that we do on behalf of poetry.
Tickets begin at $250 ($225 for Poets House Members). Reservations required. All proceeds benefit Poets House. For additional information or to make reservations, call Krista Manrique at (212) 431-7920, ext. 2211 or email krista@poetshouse.org. |
